DCG has taken the place of Technical Graphics at Leaving Certificate. This subject offers students the opportunity to visualise and understand information presented either verbally or graphically. Students will develop problem solving and creative thinking skills and are required to use 2D and 3D graphics.
40% of the coursework is a project, mainly computer-based, using Computer-Aided Design programme Solidworks. The theme of the 2019 assignment was design of an aroma | vapour diffuser.
This is an excellent choice for students who have strong visual-spatial skills and interested in Engineering or Technology as a future career choice. Students who have not taken Technical Drawing to Junior Certificate level may initially find the subject difficult as they are lacking the fundamentals of the subject.
