ONE-YEAR PART TIME IRISH COURSE
ENTRY TO PRIMARY TEACHER TRAING
Students who wish to become Primary School teachers must achieve a H4 (60-69%) or above in higher level Irish in order to attend Teacher Training College.
Hewitt College’s One-Year Part-Time Irish Course is designed for those whose hearts are set on becoming primary teachers, but who need help achieving the necessary grade in higher level Irish. The course is suitable for mature students planning a future career change, or for students repeating the Leaving Certificate. Our course is also open to those currently in third-level courses, who wish to take our course alongside their studies.
Students join our 6th year higher level Irish classes, either in person or online, and also have the option to virtually attend our 5th year higher level classes. This will be particularly useful for students who may feel that they have been away from the classroom for some time and are keen to maximise their exposure to senior cycle Irish and build upon their foundation of Irish.
All areas of the higher-level Irish Leaving Certificate examination are covered, with graded pre-examinations and oral examinations held throughout the year.
This one-year course is extensive and intensive, featuring:
A minimum of three hours of class weekly
•A minimum of four simulated orals held during the year (with an SEC oral examiner)
•Access to Hewitt College’s Leaving Certificate Irish Revision Courses
•Christmas Exams and Pre-Examinations which are marked to a Leaving Certificate standard.
We strongly advise that students taking this course join in September in order to ensure that they receive the full benefits of the programme.
In the event that accredited grades are required as part of Leaving Certificate assessment in 2022, Hewitt College and its teachers are recognised to submit same.
Cost: One payment of €1,500.00 due on or before 01.09.2021. Alternatively, three instalments of €550.00 due on or before 01.09.2021 | 01.11.2021 | 01.02.2022.
If you are considering taking this course, you are welcome to attend a free trial class at any stage.
